Here is some important information that all Californians need to know:
Open Enrollment Period:      Nov. 1, 2017 – Jan. 31, 2018
Please note that Consumers can now shop and compare to find a plan that fits their needs and budget. Covered California’s Shop and Compare Tool allows consumers to preview 2018 plans and prices.
Available Assistance:
Free in-person help is available
Certified insurance agents, applications counselors, and enrollment counselors can help consumers enroll in coverage and apply for financial assistance.
Trained staff are available to help over the phone (800-300-1506) and through a Live Chat.  Automatic Re-Enrollment:
Consumers can lower their costs by shopping for a plan that meets their budget and health needs. Current Covered California members will be automatically re-enrolled in their current plan in mid-November, but have until December 15, 2017 to change their plan for coverage starting on January 1, 2018. This year, consumers should go back through the shopping process to shield themselves from premium increases before open enrollment ends. Even if consumers’ own financial situations haven't changed, consumers who automatically re-enroll without shopping for a new plan could be better off if they shopped around.

Also in the news... Senator Harris has made affordable, quality healthcare and the well-being of all Americansa top priority. In fact, just this week, Senator Harris launched an investigation into Alkermes, a pharmaceutical manufacturer, regarding its efforts to artificially boost sales of Vivitrol, a treatment drug for opioid addiction. Recent reports have revealed that Alkermes attempted to increase sales of its own product while contributing to misconceptions about other medications used in the fight to combat the opioid epidemic, and worked to limit their availability. The Senator is requesting information from Alkermes including marketing materials, financial transactions, internal reports, and detailed records.
Last week she cosponsored the Pharmaceutical Regulation Conflict of Interest Actled by U.S. Senator Tammy Baldwin, which will slow the revolving door between the pharmaceutical industry and the federal agencies, including the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and the Food and Drug Administration FDA), that are entrusted to keep patients and the public safe.
Help us continue to spread the word about the important benefits and peace of mind that health care provides for our friends and families!
